What Consoles do you own?

But it's the Wii no true gamer would even think about getting that console. You must be a casual gamer? Or unless you are one of those people who will but just about everything out there...? o.O

Backwards logic is backwards logic. Casual games do not a casual system make. There ARE hardcore games on the console; choosing to ignore them shows that you really can't see outside the box.

Calling me a casual gamer is like calling Antarctica "not that cold." It's absurd. The one thing that really bothers me is when people make assumptions based on false judgments.

"Nintendo made the Wii. The Wii has a lot of third-and-first-party casual games. Anyone who owns the Wii must be a casual gamer."

If I applied that logic to other systems, it'd look something like this:
"Microsoft made the Xbox360. The Xbox360 has been known to have a lot of hardware issues. Anyone who owns the Xbox360 enjoys throwing their money down the toilet."

You read me all wrong I ASKED if you were a casual gamer. I never called you one.

See the question mark I placed there? I meant no harm and I am sorry if I offened you. I just find the Wii funny when it all comes down to it. I remember when someone waved the controller around it was a sign of foolishness like waving it around would really help. But now the Wii has changed that and it's very very sad. What's next a porn anime game (like the silly japanese have) where you use the controller to have a jerk off action. Lol can you imagine that? lol like that animation except 5x as fast .

Sorry if I misinterpreted you, then. But it's easy to see how I could get confused; even as a question, that's still an assumption about someone based on marketing and false images.

Nintendo has ALWAYS (repeat, always) been a casual developer. Sure, the SNES featured some of the most classic, hardcore RPGs someone could ask for, but most of them were made by third-party developers (primarily the then-Squaresoft). I just get annoyed now when people start criticizing Nintendo for being something they were from the start.

It's a bandwagon thing. Everyone else is doing it, so it must be the cool thing to do. Despite that, though; despite the taboo that Nintendo and the Wii have, it has some amazing games, (those of which I have listed), and a handful of them being infintiely times more fun than some games I've played on my 360 or my PS3. (No More Heroes is one of my absolute favorite games, as you can see in another thread I posted).

It was on the PS2 and the original Xbox. Why the Wii now?
I wonder if it will make it even MORE scary.

Why does everyone think "WHY the Wii?" when a game appears on the platform. It's no wonder the system doesn't have that many major titles, because people have no faith in it. They would just prefer to stick to their comfort of generic controls and game mechanics.

Next to the PC, the Wii is the BEST potential platform for shooter games. The level of control you have with the Wii Remote is infinitely times better than what a joystick can offer. If anyone's played Metroid Prime 3, like I have, then you can see that. But of course if you HAVEN'T played it, then it's very easy to just assume "it sucks."

Resident Evil 4 was considered the best game of the year when it came out in 2005. And that's not easy to argue; there were a few other games that were just as awesome, but that one was easily an amazing title. When the game was ported over to the Wii, quite literally EVERY SINGLE CRITIC AND REVIEWER said the Wii version was the superior game. Why? The controls.

Fatal Frame utilizes the first person view when taking pictures. My case rests.

I wasn't saying "Why the WII" like it was a bad thing. I was just wondering why they wouldn't put it on the 360 or PS since they had the rights already. They separated the series onto a bunch of consoles. I was wondering why they did THAT.

Actually, Tecmo has never given the rights of Fatal Frame over. The series has been a third-party game forever (the first even appeared as a multi-platform release for Xbox and PS2, so it was never an exclusive title). Tecmo also recently merged with Koei, and Fatal Frame 4 was co-developed with Grasshopper Manufacturers (which made "No More Heroes").

So the Wii release is not as much of a shock as you thought it was.

Ah. Hum. Oh well. But I wasn't putting the Wii down.

This is exactly what developers need to do, though. If no one experiments with the Wii, then people WILL always think of it as the "casual console."

But with that list of games I put up earlier, there's proof the Wii has every intention of appealing to hardcore gamers, too. That's why I find it such a shame people can easily label the Wii as "casual."

Oh yeah. I agree completely. I wish they would put out better titles. The Wii could be the top system out there. But almost all of their games only appeal to children. And the ones that ARE good, they never advertise. I never even knew ToS was coming out until I seen the strategy guide a week before its release.

Funnily enough, the Wii IS the top console in terms of sales. So it's obvious Nintendo knows exactly what they're doing. People can criticize them and their system(s) all they want, but Miyamoto's just swimming in his ocean of cash right now.

I bet they have great games in Japan for it that wont be coming here. =/

You have no idea. Not only just for the Wii, but much earlier games (PSX/2). The Shin Megami Tensei franchise (of which Persona 3 is part of) has about half of their games as Japan-only.

Yeah. I hate that no really good RPGs have been coming out lately. Anything that gets credit are the FPSs.

Dead Space. On the Wii. With the perfect control scheme (I already mentioned how awesome Resident Evil 4 was with the Wii's controls - this is virtually the same). I've already played and beaten the game on the PC. And I'm still going to get it for the Wii.

I got a FPS RPG game for the Wii called Baroque. But I still haven't played it. Do you know if it's any good?

I heard you need a very specific taste to like it. It's a total and complete dungeon crawler. And it's pretty brutal in terms of difficulty, I've ready.

I own the following. The number of how many are owned are in paranthesis.

PS2, PS1, Gamcube, WII, DS(2), PSP(2), Xbox, N64, Sega Genesis, Nentindo.

I, in all due respect for Nintendo, am not that fussed about the Wii. Or the XBOX.

They just... don't appeal.
