How much time have you spent in the game? Because me, personally, I spent 3 years on the game, was in an end-game raiding guild. And then realized, "this is the same thing. All. The. Time."
I couldn't have been more happy to leave all of that behind. Friends I made or not. The game did not appeal to me anymore. Not after doing it all many times. And when the point came that I found raiding more of a chore than a hobby, that's when I realized, at the end-game, WoW is no longer a means of entertainment. It's a job.
And ANYONE who denies this clearly does not know a damn thing about WoW's end-game.
I've been playing since release, so it's been about... a little over 4 years. I played in a hard core raiding guild until AQ in classic, and realized quickly that it would be repetitive. I'm a far more casual player now, and have been since TBC released. I play only a few hours a week now, and I find the game is far more enjoyable when you don't take part in the endless grind and social drama of a hardcore raiding guild.
If I'm going to spend hours upon hours playing a game it better be one I can fully enjoy on my own. Such as is the case with the Diablo fanchise, most console rpgs, and strategy games. There is nothing I hate more then waiting for people before we can get things started, which is what you do a lot of in WoW's endgame.
That said I do enjoy wow the way I play now, because it is so "accessible." Not only that but there is so much story in the game and a lot of areas to explore which are the primary reasons I play such games. Although I do tinker with pvp and raid when people need me and happen to have time.
As for it being the same thing all the time, what do you mean? Blizzard has made some vary challenging events in the game, and while they do reuse many of the events it is not so bad that your are tank and spanking every encounter. Further if you think it is repetitive because, it is always win the event get the loot. Perhaps you should reconsider video gaming in general. After all games I have encountered reward you for your efforts especially RPGS.
Warcraft PvP is not nearly as predictable as it's Pve counterpart. Sure if you have a bunch of idiots on your team it will be all about the classes and the gear. However when you have a game as populated as wow, you are bound to find such players. That does not mean a skilled player will not be able to turn the tables on you despite any handicaps.
Further, you sound as if you are some kind of anti fanatic of Warcraft. IF you don't like the game that is perfectly fine, however the players of Warcraft obviously chose Warcraft over Warhammer. Whether it be it's accessibility, lore, art, community, or even it's ease of play and grind they chose to pay for it and play it.
I choose to play Warcraft because I enjoy it overall, warhammer doesn't appeal to much, just like Grandtheft auto doesn't appeal to me, or Rap. I have my taste you have yours.
